Pilates is about moving the joints mindfully from a strong core.
That keeps the joints mobile, which keeps you young and protects from injury. A strong core, mindful movement and mobile joints are the base for everything you do with your body – from using your mobile phone correctly to cycling 100 hilly miles.
Everyone has a different body, history, injuries and goals.
Some people want to practise Pilates so they can stay injury free as they train for distance events. Others want to get back to playing tennis; to relieve the stress and aches of a long day; to meet other people – or just to get out of bed in the morning with greater ease.
If you work with me, we will have a thorough assessment and I will design a programme tailored to you, in class and also for homework should you wish.
I am running Zoom classes only at the moment. You will be able to choose between one to one classes, duet (two people per class) or small group classes (no more than 4 people per class). Either way, you will have close attention during your lessons, and the chance to do homework outside classes if you want.
The evidence base for the positive effects of Pilates is growing and you can find out more about this, and also some simple Pilates videos, on the NHS website.
